April 16 Law Day Run - a great event, where anyone who's anyone shows up to be seen. Don't miss it, as the money raised goes to a good cause. Race starts at 12 noon at the Whitehorse Courthouse Tom Ullyet, 668-5844
May 7 Carmacks School Cross Country Run - at Tantalus School, Carmacks 1-867-863-5371
. 9 Run for MOM * a charity event to raise money for a mamogramy unit for the Whitehorse General Hospital. Starts at the Hospital at noon. A great cause and all the money raised stays in the Yukon! Val Pike, 393-8700
. 12 Jean Fast Memorial Run - held in memory of Jean Fast who was tragically killed by a drunk driver. Show up to remember Jean and support the fight against drunk driving and encourage safe running practices by runners. Event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the SS Klondikel, Whitehorse Judy Kelly, 668-4306
. 14 Haines Junction School Cross Country Run - St. Elias School, Haines Junction 1-867-634-2231
. 18 First Sportslodge Riverbank 5km. Fun Run * 1st of the season - to be held every Tuesday, unless indicated otherwise, at 6:30 p.m. starting at FH Collins School, Whitehorse Bruce McKay, 668-6848
. 22 Annual Heckel Hill Mountain Run - tougher than the Dome, it's one you don't want to miss. Race starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Fish Farm on the Fish Lake Road, Whitehorse Michael Barton, 633-6539
28 Vanier Ridge Run - Whitehorse Rick Griffiths, 667-5901
. 29 Trail of '42 - the folks in Haines Junction have been doing this one for a long time. Great family event with great people, well worth a trip to the Junction. Glen Hurlbert, 1-867-634-2461 or 634-2231
June 4 High School Track and Field Meet - F.H. Collins .
. 6 What a Rush Triathlon - an unexpected treat last year, this IS a great event. This Olympic distance tri, has limited entries and the spots fill up fast. Team and individual competition. Whitehorse Pool Staff, 668-7665
. 20 Mayo Midnight Marathon - one of the friendliest group of people you'll ever want to meet the organizers of this annual event do it up right. Travel to Mayo and take part, last year runners from all over North America made the trek! Starts at 00:01 a.m. Sunday June 20th Cheryl Klippert, 1-867-996-2368
. 29 Riverwall Mile - construction along the Riverwall last year forced the cancellation of this event - not this year. It'll be scenic, and it will be fast - don't miss it. Starts at 6:30 at the SS Klondike, Whitehorse Grant Macdonald, 667-7394
July 1 Dawson Triathlon .
. 3 Coast Mountain's Mad To The Max - moved to an early spot this year, the 4th running of Mad To The Max, promises to be the best yet. This 35 km. duathlon can be done sole or as part of a team. We're reintroducing the sole run or sole bike category this year for the diehards who whined about not having it last year! Starts at 9:00 a.m. on the Chadburn Lake Road. Mike McCann, 668-3531
. 4 Atlin Mini-Marathon - one of the longest running distance races in these parts, it covers 25 km. of rolling terrain from Atlin to the Warm Springs - the last hill is a killer. There are short distances also. Edith Sidler, 1-205-651-7691
. 11 Yukon 5 km. Road Race Championships - all age groups and over a point to point course that is flat and fast. Starts on Schwatcha Lake Rd. and ends in Rotary Park. If you want to set a PB don't miss this one. Race starts at 10:00 a.m. Bruce McKay, 668-6848
. 24 The Dome - what more needs to be said about this classic. Four + miles all uphill and a great BBQ after - and for those who are musically inclined the great Dawson City music festival. Get your rooms early!Race starts at 10:00 a.m. .
August 1 Valhalla Pure Yukon River Trail Marathon, Half-Marathon and Relay - smallnew.gif (926 bytes) that's right, new this year, finally someone (besides Mad to the Max)  is taking advantage of something we have an abundance of - great scenery and great trails. . 1 Mayo Triathlon - this perennial favorite has been dominated by the folks from Dawson City for a number of years - the gauntlet has been dropped, is there anyone from Whitehorse prepared to pick it up? .
. 8 Yukon 10km. Road Race Championships - this was a great event last year and will only get better. A tough course in Granger but a scenic one. Registration at 9:30 and race at 10:00. Emily Tremblay School. Bruce McKay, 668-6848
. 15 Ridge Road Relay - back to Dawson City for this annual event that covers 50+ km. over a historic route. Something for everyone - you can run, you can bike ... ya'gotta be there. .
. 16 Youth Triathlon - an annual event in Dawson .
. 22 Pre-Skagway 10 Miler - so you want to know if you're ready for the Road Relay? then show up for this one and find out! Bruce McKay, 668-6848
Sept. 5 KVA Outhouse Race - okay, so you won't see this one in the Olympics but if they allow snowboarding maybe this should let this one in also! Get a few friends together and an outhouse with wheels and enter ... well there may be just a little more to it than that! .
. 10/11 KLONDIKE INTERNATIONAL TRAIL OF 98 ROAD RELAY - what more can be said of an event that attracts over 1500 runners. This one fills up fast and there is a deadline. Enter soon! Sport Yukon, 668-4236

. 18 Hare and Hounds - brought to you by our own local British eccentric, you have to enter to believe what he gets you to do. A fun event and a nice get together at the end. Michael Barton, 633-6539
