Here's some important news about the Tourism & Convention Centre:
- Rent the Grand Hall before June 1, 1998 and receive 50% OFF the normal
rental rate! This applies only to the first booking by each group.
- Mark Ritchie now works mostly afternoons and evenings to serve users
of the recreation facilities better. If you wish to see him, please phone
634-2293 to ensure he is available.
- Watch for news in early February when the Village Office moves to the
Centre.
Here are the new phone numbers for the Village once this move occurs.

of Administration & Finance!
Here is the schedule for upcoming Village Council meetings. Unless noted,
all meetings are at 7 pm Wednesdays in Council Chambers:
If you would like to attend the Council Meeting as a delegation, please
contact Colin Dean by noon the Thursday before at 634-2291.
1998 Dog Tags are mandatory and are now available at the Village Office.
$5 for spayed or neutered dogs, $25 for dogs not spayed or not neutered.
Be sure to pick up yours today! Also, local streets are now being patrolled
regularly by the Animal Control Officer.

ARTS CENTRE OUTREACH
Are you interested in taking a painting workshop this March with Virginia
Cuppaidge, an Australian painter from New York? She is known for her bright,
large scale abstract oil paintings and has taught art at Lehman College
in the Bronx and the Victor D'Amico Institute of Art. Please contact Mark
at the Village Office by Friday, January 30.

The Outreach Team from the Child Development Centre will be in Haines Junction
on Tuesday & Wednesday, February 17-18. If you have concerns about the

MONEY FOR THE A$KING!
Monday, February 2 is the deadline to apply for ACTIVE LIVING/GO FOR GREEN
grants. If you have a project that promotes healthy activities and environmental
awareness, then apply to the Recreation & Parks Association of the Yukon
- 668-3010.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Monday, February 16 is the next deadline to apply for COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
FUND grants for funding requests less than $20,000. Please contact the Village
Office for application forms. We even have the application form on computer
disk!
THE GREEN SCENE
Keep drains clear by rinsing with boiling water twice a week. Or pour 125
ml of baking soda followed by 125 ml of vinegar down the drain and cover
with a stopper.
